Intelligent Connectivity: Building the Next-Generation Network Platform for AMI, DER, and Grid Modernization
Wednesday, Feb. 4 | 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
As utilities plan for grid modernization—including upgrades to AMI 2.0, DERMS, and Distribution Automation—choosing the right connectivity strategy is critical. This session, co-presented by Duquesne Light Company and Itron, details how to combine private cellular with RF mesh and PLC to deliver 100% device coverage, high resiliency, and low latency. Architecture highlights include a flattened mesh using meters as takeout points and enabling a large number of bellwether meters with direct connections to the back office.
Attendees will learn practical design patterns, integration considerations, and performance trade-offs to build a next‑generation network platform that scales from AMI to grid-edge applications.
