Meet Our People

Marie A.

I've been an integral part of the Global Test Organization (GTO) department for the past three-and-a-half years. My role is pivotal in ensuring the quality of third-party devices, a responsibility I carry with a deep commitment to maintaining the high standards for which Itron is celebrated.

My journey with Itron began in an extraordinary circumstance. As a fresh graduate in 2020, brimming with ambition and academic insights, I was ready to dive into the professional world. However, my first day coincided with the global pandemic shutdown, initiating an uncharted chapter in my career. I embarked on my Itron adventure remotely, navigating the nuances of a new job without the traditional office interactions. This period of remote work, lasting for about a year-and-a-half, was my learning ground for adaptability, effective communication and resilience.

Working remotely presented its own set of challenges and opportunities. It demanded a high degree of self-motivation and discipline, pushing me to develop new ways of collaborating and communicating with my team. Despite the physical distance, we strengthened our teamwork, driven by our shared commitment to Itron's goals. This period was a testament to the power of adaptability and the importance of staying connected, no matter the circumstances.

Change was on the horizon, and we began to go into the office twice a week. While in San Antonio, one of the most memorable aspects of my life outside the office was our team's Pokémon-Go walks. These walks were more than just a fun activity; they were an opportunity for team bonding and enjoying each other's company in a relaxed setting. It was during these walks that we shared stories, laughed and built friendships that went beyond the workplace.

We received news that the Systems Test team was relocating to Liberty Lake, Washington, as part of Itron’s business strategy, which led to another significant turn in my journey. This move was more than a physical transition; it was a leap into a new phase of my professional and personal life. Adapting to a new community and work environment in Liberty Lake presented its challenges, but it also opened doors to new experiences and learning opportunities.

The relocation to Liberty Lake brought a refreshing change. Meeting my new colleagues for the first time added a new dimension to our teamwork, enhanced our collaboration and brought a deeper understanding of each other’s work styles and strengths. It was a reminder of the value of personal connections in building a strong team.

In April 2023, I was delighted to be promoted to the role of Staff Engineer in recognition of my skills and contributions to the company. Looking back on my time at Itron, I can see significant growth in both my professional abilities and personal development. My journey has been shaped by my willingness to embrace change, adapt to new environments and consistently deliver high-quality work.

Itron has provided me with opportunities for continuous learning, skill improvement and personal growth. As I look forward to what lies ahead, my excitement for the future at Itron is boundless. I am eager to continue contributing to our mission, facing new challenges and growing alongside the company. The supportive culture and the dynamic nature of our work at Itron are constant sources of motivation and inspiration.

My journey at Itron has been more than just a job; it has been an enriching experience filled with learning, adaptability and meaningful connections. I am grateful for the opportunities Itron has provided and am enthusiastic about being a part of its future success.
